The Story of Creek Fire Smoke Ale

In the summer of 2020, the mountains around Shaver Lake blazed in one of the most destructive fires in California history. The fires devastated the landscape and destroyed everything in its path. It filled the Central Valley below with soot, ash, and smoke that carpeted everything in sight. 

Our family owns a cabin in Shaver Lake and watched intently praying that it and the town would be spared. By the grace of God and the hard work and sacrifice of some amazing firefighters, our cabin was spared. Fire burned throughout our whole complex and up to 40 feet from our neighbor's cabin. One of our other neighbors had a game camera which caught various pictures of tired firefighters battling blazes, digging fire lines, or just trying to sit down long enough to rest before the next orders. 

For those of us down in the valley, the smell of smoke and the bad air conditions caused for hazy days and ash covered cars and buildings. The brewery had a thick coating of ash through much of it. But, what we endured was nothing like what was going on in the communities of Big Creek and Camp Sierra were going through, not to mention beloved Cressman's. 

In honor of the brave men and women of the Shaver Lake Volunteer Fire Department, we make Creek Fire Smoke Ale.
